Default Tempest, WW, Artillery and Sniper in PVE and PVP

I know that Tempest is more PVP based and WW, artillery and sniper are more PVE based. Now I'd like to hear your opinions of tempest in PVE and WW, artillery and sniper in PVP. Do they totally suck or is it possible for example tempest to be good at PVE in group and so on? I'd also like to know which classes are good at killing bosses (is it hard for WW and tempest?).

Free discussion of the subject.

I think the main issue with acrobats in PvE is the fact that the majority of their skills attack one target. They're a hell of a boss killer, but when it comes to destroying mobs it can take longer than most other classes. They truly were made for PvP.

As for Sniper / Artillery, they're excellent in both PvE and PvP. I play a Sharpshooter (going Sniper) in PvP and it took me a while to get used to their play style (as I started as a Merc), but once you figure out how to properly aim your shots (aka, predict where the enemy will be) and learn to kite opponents to the best of your ability (kiting Warriors is extremely difficult) you can do very well in PvP.

Snipers have that delicious Charged Shot EX which is very useful in PvP as it deals massive damage and you can pull it out just as fast as a piercing shot. Artillery allows you to focus more on the magic tree, which if you look at most PvP Sharpshooter videos, is what most of the good PvP skills consist of (Frag Arrow / Guided Missile / Swift Shot is decent). Plus, they can get Ankle Shot which stops your opponent from moving for a set amount of time. Very useful when trying to escape or hit hard with something like Charged Shot and you want to be sure you don't miss.

So acros are good at killing bosses and sharpshooters are good at clearing mobs? Or are sharpshooters also good at boss killing?

When group PVEing, does it really matter that much if you are e.g. tempest or artillery. If there is three other person killing those mobs too... So would't it be better to be good at boss killing over clearing mobs?

As you may have noticed I can't choose between tempest, wind walker and artillery. I love the way tempest and WW fights but I'm more into PVE. I'd also like to be good at group PVP.. So if anyone can help me to make up my mind I would be really thankful.

The way you describe this is as if choosing Tempest would make you terrible at PVE.

Sure Tempest's skills are mainly PVP based but it seems like you are viewing the tertiary job advancement as one thing going up (PVP) and one thing going down (PVE) but in reality it is nothing more than a boost in PVP and a small boost in PVE is included as well.

Windwalker's are mainly PVE due to their skills but your tertiary job advancement does not cripple you in any way. Windwalkers are really good at PVE due to their amazing mob control.
Do not listen to people who tell you Windwalkers are not for PVP. Their skill Show time allows for improv during PVP, if they use Show time right they can easily be made one of the best PVPers.

Unfortunately, i don't know anything about sharpshooters so I can not help you there.

Sorry for the post in a thread over a month old. Just wondering something. I'm still new to the game and the NA server is still only 2nd class. From what I am reading here is it to assume that the 2nd class will have 2 class splits again? As in:

Archer:
-Acrobat
-->Windwalker
-->Tempest
-Sharpshooter
-->Sniper
-->Artillery

Is this correct? Or are people referring to different builds as in Temptest is also WW and Sniper is also known as Artillery?
