So, installing this game as I am typing this. I have never played this style of game before, but I hear about it so much I just wanted to try it out myself. The reason why I am reluctant to try it out, is because I have always sucked at RTS games. My actions per minute or whatever is...not so great. But I'm willing to give this a try, partially because I'd like to be able to decipher what to me sounds like gibberish whenever a conversation about LoL starts up.

So, I'm open for any newbie tips and tricks, what hero to start out as etc. Feel free to derail this thread into a general LoL discussion thread if you guys want.

Ashe is a good beginner Champion. She's rather like a glass cannon and requires a pretty significant amount of items to be a menace to the other team. She usually solos middle lane unless some other Carry wants and it or something. People usually call their lanes during the Champion select screen. Uhh, practice last hitting enemy team minions; that's really key as that earns you Gold. You can follow the in-game Suggest item build as it's not too bad but eventually you will customize your own build or follow one. Uhm yeah, I'm not great at LoL and I play for fun and that's as much as I know to help XD

Well I'll say a few quick things, I don't want to type an essay right now haha. If you have any questions then feel free to ask.

When you're starting pick a type of hero that you would want to play then practice it, the few main types are: DPS, Bruiser/Melee, Tank, AP carry, Support and Jungle.

Practice last hitting minions (AI controlled creeps) for gold.

Call MIA's for when your enemy in lane disappears so to notify your teammates in the other lanes that there is a potential gank. Teammates will yell and get angry if you do not call it, even though it's their fault as well for not having map awareness (looking at the minimap to check when other lanes are missing).

Work together with your team, whether it's a gank or to protect them. Ping for incoming ganks or anything that you want to do with them.

In team fights, know your role which plays back to the first tip, and know exactly how your champion contributes in a team fight.

Be patient with your team, a lot of people will lose their cool and call you out for being a "noob" for even dying once, but generally the LoL community is pretty nice.

Beginning champions to try out are, Ashe for DPS, Annie for AP carry, Soraka for support, Warwick for jungler, or any other champions that only cost 450 IP (influence points, in-game currency) to buy in the store.

To be honest there is only so much head knowledge that you can learn but a lot of the things like last hitting, skill shots, reflexes, knowing items/champions, you have to play to understand. Jesus. First match and my team got owned. First of all there was no communication, I didn't want to say anything because I didn't know jack squat. It was a match against the easy AI too.

Ok, so what's the strategy, go after one lane, or two or three? Focus on farming or just go in there and try to destroy turrets fast?

Define: AP carry (what the hell is AP?), gank, and jungle.

The first twenty to thirty minutes or so is the laning phase. You usually try to attain as much Gold as possible in this period and build decent mid-game items. Harass your enemy laner enough and push. If you can destroy their turret, do so. If you can kill them in 1 hit, Ghost and do so. You should practice farming in Easy Co-Op, will be good practice. That's how I first learned too, playing the AI XD I usually finish off the two turrets in my lane and then go help push the other laners.

AP Carry is a Champion that builds Ability Point items, basically Magic damage. A Gank is a planned attack an enemy Champion. Jungling is basically not laning but instead killing off the various Creeps you find in the Jungle to level.

I quit that game after monkey king came out. How long ago was that? 6-7 months?

I bought Annie draining most of my IP, but someone else picked her. So I Warrick instead cause he looked awesome. He just kicks ass. I was clearing out my lane like nothing (I was mid soloing), and the only times when I had to retreat was when over 3 heros were trying to gang up on me rofl. Warrick is just SO BEAST. Makes Ashe look terribly weak in comparison.
