DNSource Rule Changes - Mod Releases/Requests & Third Party Programs

Recently the boards have become very cluttered with texture/audio modification releases and request threads. I've received countless reports that these threads are clogging up the boards and therefore action has been taken. The forum rules have changed with the addition of two new rules:

The rules will be in immediate effect.

20. Do not post mod releases or request modifications.
Dragon Nest Source does not condone users using the boards as a release site for game modifications. You may discuss the use of mods and also link to mod resources but creating threads to release modifications is directly prohibited. The board is also not a modification request forum - do not create threads to request modification links.
First offense: Infraction
Following offenses: 1-2 day ban
Continual offenses may lead to longer bans.

21. Do not post links to third-party programs.
Third-party programs are prohibited by Nexon and linking said programs on DNSource is therefore prohibited - we can not ensure the safety of users accounts when using third-party programs

I will say, a modification community is in development. The site is seperate from DNSource and can be located here: Dragon Nest Mods. We're currently in a BETA stage (the site uses a custom system for posting mods that may require tweaking).

The rules may be changed to further clarify an offence but other than that the decision is final. With hopes of becoming an official DN fansite on both Cherry Credits and Nexon.net, we can't jeopardise our application by becoming, an albeit casual, modification release and request community.

Hm, I have a question, why exactly would Nexon consider giving DNSource to become an official DN fansite, when we'd be stealing a ton of their forum traffic seeing that their forum setup has been bad since like day one compared to vBulletin(s)? I mean if you've played MapleStory you would've known how popular Sleepywood.net was and Nexon didn't even have a forum then. What makes this any different? :3

It's the same for DFO. I believe DFOSource is more widely used than the Nexon Forums for DFO.

If you stickied the JP/KR voice mods, and allowed my Sorceress Voice Mods, then you are being hypocritical. I'm not saying to lock all of those and stop distribution of them, since 99% of the people use them, but I still don't know why you said Audio mods aren't allowed, when they clearly are. :X

Rules may need to be modified for clarity on this matter, I meant strictly third-party Dragon Nest programs. As long as the licensing allows you to do so, share links to whatever you like program wise.

Basil and Sleepywood both, after many years, get Nx and such (from Nexon and have Nexon employees registered on their sites) for event giveaways that they host on their site.

I don't ever recall any Nexon sponsored events on SW (unless it's all private as in they give NX to those sites to do event giveaways) and I never went to Basil, but it was only the community representatives that signed up on SW such as Joe and Hime, which I'm not too sure if Hime is still around or not, but Joe has left already.

Community representative don't necessarily mean Nexon itself has approved at all, it's like the supportive community team on Riot Games I suppose. Like I know there are some sponsored ones, in which they'll sticky on their own Nexon official forums about such events as well.

It was more recent. They basically had a Q&A session on the forums with a few of the PR people from nexon (hime, included)

basil was maybe 6 months ago or so?

sleepywood was about 4 months ago

and southperry was about 2 months ago

I remember basil having some nx giveaway event, and I believe it had ties with nexon directly. That was maybe 8 months ago so I don't really remember if it was basil or basil + nexon sponsoring the event.

Edit: Btw, most people should know SP > SW > basil

The only reason nexon went to basil first is because their internet traffic is much higher. We all know basil is a pretty crappy community and it's mostly full of noobs. So actually, by getting rid of the mods on this site, I can see the traffic decreasing a little bit, which won't cause nexon to come.
