NA Nexon America Second Quarter Revenues Increase 38 Percent over 2010

Not your average DNSource announcement, I realise but an interesting release none-the-less. Seems like the DN license investments and the release of the new Maplestory Facebook game are paying off.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nexon America, the North American business unit of Tokyo-based Nexon Co. Ltd., has announced that its revenues have jumped 38 percent in the second quarter compared to the same period in 2010.

While growth in other segments of the video games space has continued to decline, Nexon America has been able to retain and attract players with its immersive online games and a mictrotransaction-based business model that allows customers to play for free or pay for in-game items to enhance their game play experience.

“The second quarter was an example of us doing what we do best,” said Daniel Kim, Nexon America’s CEO. “We delivered compelling content that kept our players coming back to take on adventures and have fun in our games, regardless of whether they pay a few dollars or play for free.”

During the second quarter, Nexon America aggressively delivered new content for all of its games, including premiering the Chaos saga to MapleStory, adding the unique Romeo & Juliet update to Mabinogi and making Dungeon Fighter Online and Vindictus more accessible by removing play-time barriers. Additionally, both Dungeon Fighter Online and Vindictus added huge chunks of content, which helped grow revenues from those games.

On a similar note, it appears Nexon's interest in the Facebook world of applications is looking increasingly attractive and lucrative to them as they're investing in upcoming game/social application developers:

I was interested if Nexon America was a public company solely due to the fact that their reports would be posted somewhere.

This press release seems to have proven that Nexon America can indeed afford to improve their customer service, but simply choose not to.

Lol pretty much.. They can make alot cash, but continue to use shit servers..

Makes me wonder how they keep making money..oh right they don't it on getting better servers they use it to buy more games to generate more money. You'd think a 38% increase in revenue would at least expand server size capacity by 10%

They'd free up a lot more server space if they hired more/competent mods to ban chat spammers and botters. Plus while not busy banning all the gold sellers they could actually get around to answering tickets in less time than a decade.

But that will never happen, status quo FTW.
