Default Dark Magic: What's so special

Feels like Dark Attack is really lacking a special side effect, or maybe I'm just not aware of it?
Ice magic has a chance to slow/freeze, Fire burns to do damage over time, Light magic can Electrocute. Dark magic DOES NOT Poison to do damage over time, that's unique just to toxic spray. Does Dark magic have anything special or am I missing something?

As far as I know, it's the most emo of all elements, you get a skull next to your attacks (which would make more sense if this skill actually poisoned or something), and it makes your damage purple.

Not really a special effect, but you can get dark attack % on some radiant earrings and necklaces, totals to about +17 or 18% extra dark attack I think.

Is it confirmed that those elements offer the said effect or it's just a property of the spell as well? Because if it's the element, then crafting fire/water/light on your weapon should also have the said effect, and not just the bonus elemental damage.

Edit: I checked the wikis. Apparently, there is no defensive skill that reduces dark damage specifically (light is reduced by priests blessing of light and paladins conviction aura, ice/fire is reduced by paladins elemental aura)

Unfortunately, some monsters in pve (eg. ghouls) have naturally high dark resist, more common than other elemental resists but still managable.

That's what I was implying. But as I think about it, it's a crappy "effect", one that works more to our disadvantage than advantage. This effect is only "good" in pvp, where it means mystics will be able to do full damage to any class unless they specifically gear up to defend against dark. In pve, enemies aren't constrained by this and can easily resist dark if devs create them to be so. What's more, if the monster's attack is dark-based, we can't rely on clerics to save our sorry asses.

Edit: ninja'd by light. :x

Last time I checked dnarmory, I remembered the mobs in Marissa Dryspring having around 30% Dark resistance. So if you have lower than 30% Dark Attk, lol, cute damage. That's what sucks about mystics, even though they have great mobility ability, they still can't deal the maximum of their attack in MOST dungeons(apparently, almost all the current lv 32/40 dungeons have mobs with 30% + Dark Resistances).

Fair enough, but for mystics even with a 200 int necklace you're still only going to get about 150 extra matt, and if you already have 3k matt, 10% more dark attack would boost your damage much more (especially when you throw in the fixed damage on skills, and radiants can get a bit of int too as the stat). Of course you'll be missing some mana, but you'll be killing things faster to balance it out.
