i'd go for mercenary
it's fun to whack everyone aside and scatter them
also hammer/axe has more stun/paralysis so it could break super armor easily

I love my SM just because it's flashy But Mercs are better in PvP, unless you're up against some ranged classes, like Moonlords in the future...

IMO ...

Both excel in combat.. it all depends on how the player will control hes character properly

and FYI both class rapes in PVP and PVE:

for the Swordmasters: Obviously they have to Upper Class that has a major difference in combat

Swordmaster Moonlord wannabe: (for the int types magic-atk) Focuses on range attacks Flashy dps skills and has quite good critical damages.. when critical stats has over 8000 above.. NOTE: that any char who has 8000 crit stats can penetrate critical resistance so that attacks always hit crit

Swordmaster Gladiator wannabe: (for str types atk-pow) Focuses on mellee attacks This class has serious flashy skills with no doubt can devastate any class if the player has fast hands

Mercenary.. IMO i dont know much about this job to be honest i just created one .. gotta say this job rapes all PVE and PVP

there upside is they can harrass players even when there down on the ground which makes them a rapist in Melee combat.. and they stun too..

ohh almost forgot for the moonlord wannnabes they totally rape from afar

^_^

I think you're having a misconception regarding critical resistance. It doesn't reduce that chance receiving critical hits. Rather, it lowers the damage received from critical. So a high-crit build battling against high-crit resist will have his dps considerably lowered.

This is the main reason why I don't want over high crit because weakens my character against player with high agi and crit resist.

Technically speaking, but not exactly...

There are two kinds of critical hits: Yellow and White.
Yellow Criticals deal 125% of the damage the attack would have dealt if it weren't a crit, and ignores the enemy's defense.
White Criticals also ignore enemy defense, but only deal 40% of the normal damage.

The Critical stat determines how often you score either critical hit and the Critical Resist stat increases the chances the criticals that hit you will be White.
There also aren't that many High Crit Resist monsters (Lava Golem in Sea Dragon Nest is one), so you shouldn't worry too much about keeping low crit.

Also, the score you need for 95% crit rate (the highest you can get) is dependent on the target's level. A level 24 monster will take a lower Critical stat to reach 95% crit rate than a level 32. (I forget the rest, but level 40 monsters take roughly 10k Crit)
