So, here's the big question guys. Mercenary or Sword Master?
![]() Personally I think swordies are just flat out awesome and they look completely legit yo. Their skills are pretty flashy and cool. But as we all know, Sword Master < Mercenary when it comes to PvP. Swordies are bad with melee attacks and Mercys are amazing with melee. So, a SM has to be very careful and play as a ranged class and attack from afar in PvP. But Sword Masters are pretty great with combos. Their single attacks are weak, but they can stack combos like there's no tomorrow, and pretty darn fast too, Unlike a Merc. But Mercys have a lot more powerful single attacks, but attack MUCH more slower than a SM. A Mercenary's attacks are VERY hard to interrupt, too. And a Sword Master can be very helpful and protect other players from monster attacks during PvE. I know this is all based on the player's gameplay style, but what are your opinions? because I really have no idea.

Wow those are very insightful...um...insights. ^_^ I agree, the Swordmaster has rapid, continuous attacks. Though it looks like he is easily knocked out of his rhythm. And the Mercenary is far better suited to being a tank. His skill set and base stats point to that heavily.
As far as PvP goes, I think that the classes are fairly well balanced. The skill lies in playing your character's strengths. A Swordmaster needs to isolate his enemy and wail away until they're dead then move on, while the Mercenary needs to stick with the Archer or Sorceress and play tank while they deal the damage. In a one on one match though, I think it will wind up in a series of clashes, and the one to get the first blow most often will win. Either the Swordmaster will get in, start his chain, and bolt like a rabbit while his skills cool or the Mercenary will strike first, do some damage, then back off before the Swordmaster can stand up and start his chain. Either way it's a samurai duel, first strike wins it. |

I've thought about that, but I'm not the type of person who likes to play on a lot of characters, y'know... I like to stick to one main character. |

I've seen a few PvP video's too, and it seems to me that all the Swordmasters were neglecting their skills to close in quickly. The Mercenary has nothing that activates as fast nor cover the distance that the Swordmaster's line-drive can. If the Swordmaster can hit with his line-drive, it opens the Mercenary up to a full combo. However, if he misses or if the Mercenary can intercept or even close in before that...he just pummels the Swordmaster into submission =^_^=

dedication is all fine and dandy, but i've yet to play an mmo where i didn't want to try at least 1 other class. if it's truly that hard to pick, play both until you decide....then main the one you pick....seems simple to me
